ABOUT
What is Katsuragi Shugen?

Katsuragi is the long 112km ridge stretching from Wakayama to Nara, at the prefectural border between Osaka and Wakayama. It has been worshipped by people as the mountains where gods live.
In the 7th century, En-no-Gyoja was born in the area now known as Nara. He is the founder of Shugendo, and Katsuragi is said to be the place where he started his first training.
Mt.Omine, a part of the World Heritage Site “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range”, is the most significant training path of Katsuragi Shugendo.
Tours

In the Izumi mountain ranges that run between Osaka and Wakayama is the birthplace of Katsuragi Shugen – a World Heritage Site. Shugen-do is a syncretic religion of Buddhism and mountain worshipping and there are sutra mounds, temples, and ancestral halls scattered among its training path.
We plan and organize special tours where you can experience the sacred pilgrimage and other activities such as enjoying the local gourmet and soaking in onsens that lie within the areas of Osaka Senshu and Wakayama.
